It happens to every reader…

You’re shuffling your cards, ready to do a beautiful, perhaps pre-planned spread, and a card flies out and lands sideways!

WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES IT MEAN???

I actually love the sideways cards. They often have answers to questions I might not have thought to ask!

If you get a sideways card, here’s what it might mean:

  • An issue that warrants your attention

  • Something that is “crossing” you (aka, tripping you up)

  • An unexpected source of help

Which one is it?

Shuffle the deck again and draw ONE clarifying card.

If the card is a:

  • Major Arcana card: It’s an issue that warrants your attention

  • Sword or Wand: It’s something that is “crossing” you

  • Cup or Pentacle: It’s an unexpected source of help

Bonus insight: The themes on the clarifying card can provide information about what kind of issue, “crossing” or source of help you might experience.

Example:

This is a past-present-future love reading for a hypothetical querrent in which a random card fell out sideways!

Past: Ace of Wands - The Querrent has been focused on the self for quite sometime, perhaps living like a single person even if they’re not (see the present card!)
Present: 4 of Wands - Something or someone is still taking up a lot of space in their personal life (whether an actual person or a memory). It may be difficult for a new person to enter the picture.
Future: Devil Reversed - An obstacle will need removing before the querrent has room to love.

The sideways card: 10 of Cups - A marriage or family card is entering the picture!

What in the world might it mean?

Clarifying card: Death - An issue that warrants their attention. Most likely, if the querrent wants to find love, they need to wrap some things up in their home, family, or current relationship…STAT.

Follow-up questions might include:

  • What’s the best course of action in embracing the message of the clarifying card?

  • If the clarifying card’s advice is followed, what might come next?

  • Is there anything else I/the querrent needs to know right now?
